The local lambs are growing fast, taking advantage of the fresh grass of the last few weeks . . . Oh, and the calves are growing too !! As we climbed above the short forestry section we started to get a clear view down to Loweswater and the Lorton Valley.
A further steep climb meant we gained height quickly. Here we are looking down on Low Park and High Park. The northern summit is the lower of two by a few meters, so it was off to the other end of the fell where we reached the true summit and enjoyed this slightly cloudy view of Buttermere and Fleetwith Pike.
Turning for home now, we followed the beck down to Crummock Water.
Looking back to Low Ling Crag and the fells at the head of the valley ( l to r ) Fleetwith Pike with Brandreth behind, Haystacks with Great Gable behind. Home then for a cup of tea after a great local walk.
In the evening, I took the opportunity to introduced Helmut to our local hostelry to sample our local brew, and to challenge him to an old English pub game, Shove Ha' penny.
